Historic Property Recognition

An important component of historic preservation is recognition of historic properties. FHFG’s Historic Property Recognition program identifies properties having historical or architectural significance by placing a plaque near the entrance to the property identifying the year that it was built.

Mary Rose Sawyer House

This Queen Anne Cottage style house was built in 1891 by local builder William Kane and was purchased by Mary Rose (Tompkins) Sawyer.

Persell & Mamie Eades House

Persell Eades built this single level Craftsman-influenced bungalow which resembles todays more modern ranch style in the early 1900’s.

Thomas House

The “Thomas House” was likely built ca. 1893 and is of the vernacular farmhouse style popular during this period.

OUR MISSION

The purpose of the Historic Properties Recognition Program (HPRP) is three-fold: to call attention to the historic character of Forest Grove; to give recognition both to its early buildings and to the people who built or resided in them; to promote education and the preservation of Forest Grove history.
